Linac2020 will be hosting a student presentation competition. The student category applies to students registered for a Ph.D. or degree in accelerator physics or engineering.

All students are welcome to present their work and compete for the £500 First place and £500 Second place cash prize, sponsored by the Institution of Engineering and Technology, which will be awarded for the best two presentations submitted, as decided by a group of judges from the conference Scientific Program Committees. These prizes will be awarded to the winners during the closing plenary session on Friday, 4 September, 16:50-17:10 pm UK time. The first place prize winner will have their presentation shown in the session and be called to give a five minute oral Q&A session after the presentation.

Students should send a 10 min video of them presenting their research, in mp4 format, and indicate which panel they wish to be considered by:

  • Electron Machines
  • Proton & Ion Machines
  • Technology
  • Beam Dynamics, Extreme Beams, Sources
    and Beam related technology

There will be a live finals Q&A session for the best 5 student presentation, as judged by the panel, at 4pm UK time on Friday 28th August to chose the first and second place winners. Prizes will be awarded based on:

  • The quality of both the scientific work and the presentation
  • The promise for the future
  • The professionalism of the interaction with the judges in the finals Q&A session

Video’s must be submitted by 14th August and students must register for the conference by then.
