The student category includes students registered for a Ph.D. or diploma in accelerator physics or engineering. Post-doctoral students and fellows should register as regular participants. The Student Grant Application deadline is Sunday 31 May 2020. Everyone needs to register via the SPMS portal and can the continue the process by clicking on the “registration” button within SPMS.

Information about visas for international travel to the conference is available at Visa to the United Kingdom. For a letter of invitation please select the appropriate button when completing your registration form.

Registration Process

You will be asked to log in using your JACoW username and password to register for the conference. If you have attended, exhibited at, or submitted an abstract to a member conference of JACoW, you should already have a profile.

If you do not have such a profile, or have forgotten your username, signing up is easy; just click the link below and follow the instructions under “Are you a new user?” JACoW Central Repository User Profiles.

Prior to registering, please confirm that the data in your JACoW profile is up to date, especially your e-mail address and affiliation. From within SPMS, you can then click on the registration link in the top menu which will take you to an external registration page where you can put in your full details.

Student Financial Support

Financial support will be available to a selected number of students registered for a PhD or degree in accelerator physics or engineering, to offset the cost of the conference registration fee and shared accommodation. Supported students will be expected to assist the speakers and delegates during the conference sessions, as well as in registration formalities and/or excursions.

In order to be considered for support, students must register for the conference as student and participate in the special student poster session. Students awarded financial support must arrive in Liverpool before Sunday, 30 August 2020 at noon, so that they can attend an orientation and training session on the Sunday afternoon.

How to Participate and Apply for Financial Support

To be considered for financial support, you must:

  • Register as student via SPMS, mention in the comment box that you are applying for financial support
  • Send an email to LINAC2020@stfc.ac.uk with the following attachments
    • Degree certificate
    • Curriculum Vitae
    • Recommendation letter from your supervisor or group leader
    • Abstract/s including title and main classification

If you apply for financial support, please do not pay the registration fee unless you hear that your application for support was unsuccessful. All applications and recommendations must be received before 31 May 2020. Successful applicants will be notified by end of April 2020.

Responsibilities of Financial Support Recipients
Students receiving grants must present their work in the special student poster session on Sunday, 30 August 2020, submit their contributions for the proceedings, and act as scientific secretaries during at least one conference session.

Cancellation and Refund Policy
Any changes and cancellations must be communicated in writing to the LINAC2020 Local Organizing Committee at LINAC2020@stfc.ac.uk. For cancellations, pre-paid registration fees are refundable less a £100 processing fee if notification of cancellation is received in writing by 31st July 2020. Cancellations after 31st July 2020 will result in forfeiture of the entire registration fee; however, a substitute registrant will be accepted. This policy also applies to companions. Refunds may be granted for no-shows under extenuating circumstances at the sole discretion of the LINAC2020 organizers. Refunds will be made by credit card, check or bank transfer, depending on the original payment method. This policy also applies to extra tickets for outings and social functions.
